Clear interfaces create better experiences

Do you need help with how your service looks and feels on the web or in app form? Or maybe you have an idea for a problem you could solve, but are unsure how to do it in the most user-friendly way possible. We have extensive experience helping clients with exactly those kinds of challenges.

Those of us who work with interactive design often talk about UI / UX, two abbreviations that stand for User Interface and User Experience.

Three common UX terms

The invisible part of design

Simplified, UI is about how things look, and UX is about how they are experienced.

Our process – how it works

You tell us what you want to achieve, we listen. Then we sketch out an initial idea in the form of wireframes (simple sketches that show structure and flow).

Wireframes make it clear what needs to be built. We quickly see if we’re on the right track, adjust if needed, and make sure we’re aligned. Often, one round of revisions is needed before everything is finalized.

Once we agree on what needs to be done, it’s time for the design phase. Do you already have a graphic profile for print? Then we make sure it works for the web and adapt it for interactive media.

There’s a big difference between designing for print (where everything is static) and for web and digital productions, where you need to consider many parameters such as screen sizes, browser versions, and different devices. We handle all of that, and just like with wireframes, one or two rounds of revisions are often needed before everything is in place.

Different types of design projects

New from scratch

Do you have a completely new service that needs an app or a web interface? Or do you want to build a new website for your company and are starting from a blank slate?

We create a graphic profile that works seamlessly across all screens, and of course we design in line with accessibility standards.

Redesign

You have a website or app that is starting to feel outdated, but a graphic profile you are happy with. We use that as a foundation when creating a new and refreshed design that also meets WCAG requirements.

Adaptation

There is a graphic profile, or even a finished web design, but now it needs to become reality. Or perhaps you need to add new functionality that fits within the existing visual language.

Solutions for your digital needs

We offer solutions for a range of digital needs. Whether you want to create something new, solve problems, or further develop what you already have, there’s an option for you.

The full package

– A complete solution from idea to launch and maintenance

We run workshops to understand what you want. Then we create sketches and content that explain the solution and check in with you to make sure we’ve understood correctly.

After that comes graphic design and further refinement, technical architecture, choice of admin interface, where the solution will be hosted, and so on. We handle production with you involved throughout the entire project (if you want), and finally launch and maintain the solution.

Pre-study

– You have an idea and want to make it concrete

We run workshops and produce a design document. You can choose what should be included: UX, UI, technical architecture, cost estimates. After that, you can continue with us, use the material to apply for funding, or take it to someone else.

Service

– You have something, but you’re not completely satisfied

You’re not getting the help you need from your current provider. We take over the project and solve the problems.

Further development

– You have something that works

You’re happy with what you have, but would like to add more features. To continue building, we first need to take over the project.

Three common UX terms

Wireframes

Rough sketches that show which functions a user should have access to, and in what order things happen.

Proof of Concept (PoC)

If there is uncertainty about whether something is feasible at all, you create a PoC. If the entire idea depends on being able to connect a web browser to a remotely controlled water tap, you test that in the fastest way possible.

The purpose is to avoid unnecessary work, the core concept simply needs to be proven.

Minimum Viable Product (MVP)

An MVP is ready for launch. In other words, it’s not a prototype meant for internal evaluation. It’s about stripping away “nice-to-have” features and building only what’s necessary for someone to want to use the product or service.

The goal is to make the launch as cost-effective as possible, start acquiring users, and then continue building with additional features.

The invisible part of good design

UX includes things like logical navigation, making it easy for the user to understand what they can do with an app or service, and ensuring everything behaves consistently. But one of the most important parts is invisible.

In one study, 88% of participants said they were less likely to return to a website if they had a bad first impression. This is more often about loading times than how “nice” it looks. Take large, popular sites like Reddit, Facebook, Flashback or Aftonbladet. They all look fairly rough, yet still get a lot of traffic because they do what they’re supposed to do, in a fast and smooth way.

There are no wireframes or design sketches in the world that can solve loading times; the website has to be built properly. Thanks to our team composition, we have everything needed to optimize both functionality and performance. We can optimize code, manage servers across all major cloud providers AWS, Google Cloud or Azure and ensure images are automatically compressed.

You are your first user

Almost everything needs an admin interface, and the better it is, the better content your service or product will have, which in turn leads to happier customers. Unfortunately, many people skip putting a bit of extra effort into that part.

We always encourage our clients to give the admin interface some extra care. This could mean helping with translating content directly in the CMS or developing a complete CRM system.
