Automated translations with AI

Atos Medical is an international company with more than 24 websites in different languages. To make it easier for editors to adapt new product pages and articles for each market, we at Twofour developed a fully automated workflow. The solution makes it possible to easily clone a page from Atos Medical’s main website to the local websites.

Phase 1: Automatic page cloning in WordPress

In the first step, we developed a feature that recreates an identical page in Gutenberg, including the full layout from the .com site. This saves a significant amount of time compared to the previous manual process. In WordPress, the editor simply enters the URL of the page to be cloned, clicks a button, and the content is built automatically.

Since WordPress is an open-source platform, we have full control over the code, making it possible to recreate even advanced blocks with custom settings. Another advantage is that formatting issues are avoided, something that often occurs when pasting content from, for example, Word documents.

Phase 2: AI-powered translations

In the next step, we added an AI service to automate the translation of the content. The editor simply checks a box before starting the cloning process. The system automatically detects the language of the local website, meaning no manual setup is required.

Certain elements, such as links, are not translated automatically since it’s not always logical. Instead, they are clearly highlighted so the editor can easily adjust them, either by removing the link or replacing it with a more relevant local version.

The result

Editors no longer have to spend time on tasks like translating text in external documents and copying and pasting into WordPress. Instead, they can focus on what really matters, adapting tone and wording for the local market.
